Lakers acquire Brook Lopez from the Nets in exchange for D'Angelo Russell, Timofey Mozgov
The Los Angeles Lakers have acquired center Brook Lopez from the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for point guard D'Angelo Russell and center Timofey Mozgov.
Mozgov's departure gives the Lakers a lot more cap space to work with, while Lopez figures to be the focal point of their offense next season. In exchange for taking the Mozgov salary dump, the Nets get a young piece in Russell to help with their rebuild.
Lopez averaged 20.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.7 blocks and 1.8 3-pointers per game last year, ranking 114th in the NBA and 1st among Nets players with a 0.8 nERD. Russell's -5.4 nERD ranked 469th among 486 players.
