Celtics' Gordon Hayward (leg) likely out for the year

Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward is unlikely to return this season, says agent Mark Bartelstein.

What It Means:

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Bartelstein also said, "We expect him to make a full recovery and return to his All-Star form." Of course, we should be taking this for what it's worth, coming from Hayward's agent. But it's now almost certain that Hayward misses the entire year as he rehabs with the intent of returning next season. Marcus Smart and Jayson Tatum will be forced into more work in the All-Star's stead.

In his previous three seasons, Hayward had posted a nERD score of 5.9 or better while averaging at least 19.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists a game while with the Utah Jazz.
