The San Diego Chargers Have Lost Four Games By a Combined 14 Points

Despite scoring 10 more points than they have allowed this season, the San Diego Chargers are sitting in the cellar of the AFC West with a 1-4 record. The 2-3 Arizona Cardinals, sporting a plus-23 point differential, are the only other team with a losing record and a positive point differential.

The Chargers woes are centered on their dismal fourth quarter performance and inability to put teams away. Through five games, San Diego has a plus-48 point differential at the end of the third quarter, and has never trailed by more than three points.

The 2013 Detroit Lions were the last team to finish the season with a losing record (7-9) and a positive point differential (plus-19).

San Diego plays two of their next three games against the Denver Broncos, whose plus-40 point differential is tied for the fourth best in the league. Their only game in between their two matchups against the Broncos is against the Atlanta Falcons, who are the only team with more points scored per game (35) than the Chargers (30.4) this season.
