The 9 Most Overvalued Players in Fantasy Football
O.J. Howard, TE, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Rookie O.J. Howard currently has a TE11 average draft position according to FantasyFootballCalculator.com. In best ball drafts that have money on the line (MFL10s), he's being selected as the 15th tight end off the board.
You may be saying, "What's it matter? A late-round tight end shouldn't be listed as overrated."
Guys. He's overrated.
The transition from college to the pros is tough for all positions, but that's especially true at tight end. In NFL history, only 7 tight ends have hit the 50-reception mark as rookies. Though it was a down season for tight ends in 2016, every single top-15 fantasy player at the position hit the 50-reception mark.
In other words, just to match his average draft position, Howard's going to probably need to be historically good as a rookie tight end.
And why should we bank on that? The Tampa Bay offense has Mike Evans demanding a large share of targets, they just signed DeSean Jackson, and they already have a pass-catching tight end on the roster in Cameron Brate.
Quite simply, there are better options that late in drafts who have more secure roles. Don't be foolish.
