Antonio Callaway Will Finish Top 10 in Receiving Yards

Antonio Callaway has not had a great start to his rookie campaign. Despite seeing significant snaps over the last three weeks and operating as the team's WR2, he's yet to crack 100 receiving yards. His games have been highlighted by drops (he has two or three depending on which source you check) and he was the intended target on both of Baker Mayfield's two interceptions against the Oakland Raiders. To make matters worse, he's hauled in only 10 of his 23 targets since Week 2 for an anemic 43.48% catch rate.

His box scores and fantasy output have left plenty to be desired, but his peripheral numbers point in another direction. Since Week 2, he ranks fifth in the NFL in Air Yards. He hasn't converted many of them yet, but the opportunity is there and the sheer volume of targets -- his 23 targets in that time rank in the top 30 -- and air yards have him positioned for a huge game at any moment.

At 21, he's still one of the youngest wide receivers in the league, and it's important to remember that he didn't play football in 2017 due to off-the-field problems. He's still getting acclimated to the pace of the NFL and getting his football legs back.

Week 5 is certainly a tough spot for the young receiver, who matches up against our top-ranked pass defense in the league, which gets their star cornerback making his season debut. If there's one thing in Callaway's favor, it's that the Browns will likely be forced to take deep shots in order to keep up with the Baltimore Ravens, who are currently 3.0-point road favorites. If Mayfield has to chuck it deep, the receiver averaging 16.4 Average Targeted Air Yards per target -- the fifth most in the league -- should be the one to benefit most.
