5 NFL Stats to Know Through Week 6
Baltimore Had 11 Sacks Against Tennessee
Playing against their former defensive coordinator, the Baltimore Ravens reminded Dean Pees what he was missing in their Week 6 matchup against the Tennessee Titans. Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota completed 10 passes in the game, and he was sacked a staggering 11 times.
This marked the first time a quarterback was sacked more times than he had completions (minimum 10 attempts) since Jay Cutler in 2010. Cutler went 8 of 11 for 42 yards playing the for the Chicago Bears, but he was sacked nine times by the Jets. In all, there have been 26 instances of this happening since 1981 (the first year sack data is available, per Pro Football Reference)
The Ravens' 11 sacks is tied for the highest number by a team since 2010. The then-San Diego Chargers inflicted 11 takedowns on the Jets back in 2012.
Baltimore's D is the best unit in the NFL, according to our schedule-adjusted metrics, and they have what should be a fun-to-watch matchup in Week 7 against the high-flying offense of the New Orleans Saints.
