5 DraftKings Bargains for Week 10
Duke Johnson, RB, Cleveland Browns
DraftKings Price: $4,700
Projected Points: 12.06
Projected Value (points per $1,000): 2.57
The shift in offensive coordinators last week seemed to benefit Duke Johnson, who was actually utilized within the Cleveland Browns offense. Prior to last week, Johnson had seen a consistent snap share week to week but with nothing to show for it fantasy wise.
Johnson was fourth in Receiving NEP for Week 9 running backs. He saw a season high of 9 targets, all of which were caught for 78 yards, and had 2 touchdowns to go with it. Duke led the team in targets for the week, good for a 21% target market share. Those are essentially wide receiver stat lines, except fantasy players are paying for a cheap running back.
Excluding the three two-point attempts, Cleveland ran nine red zone plays against the Kansas City Chiefs. Duke's two touchdowns came within the red zone and he was the main target for Mayfield on two out of the four passing plays they ran. While we can't expect touchdowns every week, it's important to recognize the red zone usage that makes Duke more than just a third-down running back.
The Atlanta Falcons haven’t gotten any better at defending running backs coming out of their bye, either, as they allowed a Chris Thompson-less Washington running back corp to catch six of seven targets. On the year, the Falcons are last in running back targets allowed, catches, and receiving yards. That amounts to 35.8 DraftKings points allowed per game to the position, and as you have guessed, that's also last in the league.
As mentioned earlier, pairing Johnson with his quarterback will allow players to roster what might be anticipated chalk (Johnson) with a not-so-chalky player (Mayfield), creating correlation in their lineups and leverage against the field, all while allocating a small portion of their salary to this two-man stack.
