Indianapolis Colts - Jack Doyle

Cap Savings: $5.65 million

Jack Doyle has always been a steady contributor for the Indianapolis Colts, although far from a prolific one. He’s caught 77.2% of his career targets (200 of 259) while gaining an uninspiring 8.6 yards per reception.

Injuries restricted him to just six games in 2018, and he didn’t make a lot of noise in any of them. He caught 6 of 7 targets for 70 yards and a score in Week 8 against the Oakland Raiders, but he never had more than 47 yards in any of the other games.

In Doyle’s absence, Eric Ebron enjoyed a career season, totaling 66 receptions for 750 yards and 13 touchdowns. Doyle has scored just 14 touchdowns in his entire career. Doyle is expected to recover from his kidney injury in time for the 2019 season, but his contract is quite rich for a player who is a better blocker than pass catcher.

With all that said, when both tight ends were healthy, Doyle was consistently playing more snaps than Ebron, and with the Colts having gobs of cap space, they can easily afford to retain Doyle. Like the Browns, the Colts are in great shape heading into 2019, and they don't have too many tough roster calls to make.
