Josh Gordon, WR, Cleveland Browns

I've already shown that I love Josh Gordon. The problem is, Josh Gordon more than likely isn't going to play in 2014.

Let's merely pretend, however, that he gets an eight-game suspension, which a lot of folks are assuming. Last year, Gordon finished with 9 top-24 wide receiver performances in 13 relevant fantasy games (Week 17 excluded). Eight of those contests saw top-12 numbers, which was the highest in the NFL.

If he plays eight games, you're only going to be able to use him for seven because Week 17 is worthless to fantasy football. And even if he continues at his crazy rate of matching top-24 performances (usable ones in 12-team leagues), Gordon will produce 4.85 top-24 weeks for you in 2014. That's not fantastic.

And that's also not factoring in a more run-heavy approach in Cleveland this season. The Browns were the pass-happiest team in football last year, running more passing plays than any other team. Mike Pettine and company will be bringing a hard-nosed, physical style of offense, shown by their actions in bringing in Ben Tate and Terrance West this offseason.

While I understand the notion that no suspension for Gordon will give you incredibly high-end production at wide receiver for a fraction of an elite wide receiver's cost, keep in mind that a suspension appears more probable than not. And if he gets eight games, he's not an automatic gem each and every week.
