James Jones was plagued by inefficiency last season, ranking 36th out of the 40 receivers across the league who received 100 targets or more in Reception NEP per target (0.48). Now, a lot of this had to do with the fact that then-rookie, Derek Carr, was throwing him the ball. But the had already begun slowing down in his last season in Green Bay too, posting an average 0.68 Reception NEP per target in 2013 before posting an abysmal 0.48 Reception NEP per target in 2014 with the Raiders.
But sometimes fantasy football and real football are incongruent. And Aaron Rodgers looked his way twice in the red zone on Sunday, with Jones catching all 4 of his targets for 51 yards and 2 scores.
He won't put up stat lines like that every week, but Rodgers trusts him, and as the number three receiver catching passes from the best quarterback in the game, I like where he is positioned enough to overlook his recent inefficiencies. Go get him while you still can.
