Rams acquire Von Miller from Broncos for pair of picks
The Los Angeles Rams are acquiring linebacker Von Miller from the Denver Broncos in exchange for two second-day 2022 draft picks, reports Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Miller was held out Week 8 with what was said to be an ankle injury, but the Broncos likely just didn't want to risk anything that would have prevented the trade from happening. The Rams' acquisition of Miller in exchange for the two picks shows that Sean McVay and company are all-in on a Super Bowl run this season. Miller, a 32-year-old three-time All-Pro, has 4.5 sacks in seven games.
The Rams blitz on 23.0% percent of dropbacks, which is the 11th-highest rate in the NFL, but they still lead the league with 25 sacks. The defense is only 18th in how frequently they pressure opposing quarterbacks (21.6%), which figures to improve with Miller on board. Miller has earned the seventh-best defensive grade from Pro Football Focus among edge defenders this season.
