Cardinals release veteran quarterback Colt McCoy
The Arizona Cardinals released veteran quarterback Colt McCoy, Adam Schefter reports.
McCoy had initially been slated to open the season as the Cardinals' starting quarterback while Kyler Murray recovers from his knee injury, but his release means one of either Josh Dobbs or Clayton Tune will now be expected to fill that role.
The Cardinals are trending towards having Murray miss at least the first four games of the 2023 season, so their choice of starter could impact at least a full quarter of the fantasy football season. McCoy heavily targeted slot receivers whenever given the chance in the NFL, but Dobbs and rookie Tune have each seemed to have more willingness to push the ball past the line of scrimmage.
