Vikings' Cam Akers suffers torn Achilles
Minnesota Vikings running back Cam Akers ruptured his Achilles’ tendon in Sunday's 31-28 win over the Atlanta Falcons, per head coach Kevin O'Connell.
Akers is done for the season due to the second Achilles' tear of his career. He is scheduled for free agency and will only be 25 by the start of next season. Alexander Mattison is set up as the Vikings' clear lead back, with Ty Chandler and Kene Nwangwu competing for complementary touches.
Akers rushed 38 times for 138 yards and 1 touchdown in six games for the Vikings this season. He also caught 11 passes on 12 targets for 70 yards. Akers averaged 0.00 Rushing Net Expected Points per attempt for the Vikings and Mattison has averaged negative-0.15 Rushing NEP per attempt.
