4 FanDuel Premier League Players to Avoid in Matchweek 32
Shane Duffy, Defender, Brighton
Salary: $7,500
Duffy is the top-priced defender on the slate, and he has averaged 20.46 FanDuel points this season -- the highest average among all defenders who have played more than one match. Duffy has, however, scored fewer than 8.0 FanDuel points in two of his last three matches, averaging 13.36 FanDuel points over that span.
Brighton are a slight favorite over the Saints, who have have a 68.3% chance of scoring at least one goal, according to oddsmakers, a feat they have accomplished in three of their last four matches away from St. Mary’s Stadium.
If the Seagulls do relinquish a goal, Duffy may have a hard time producing as the top-priced forward as defenders’ defensive statistics have dropped off at Falmer Stadium, despite Southampton allowing decent defensive numbers. They have allowed the most blocked shots (3.47), fifth-most clearances (21), fifth-fewest interceptions (9.8) and second-fewest tackles (14) per road match on this slate.
Stat | Home | Away |
---|---|---|
Clearances | 66 | 111 |
Blocked Shots | 10 | 22 |
Tackles | 9 | 14 |
Interceptions | 14 | 14 |
Whether you are looking for defenders with a high probability of getting a clean sheet, upside in the attack, or the likelihood of seeing a large number of defensive actions, Duffy should be avoided in favor of other, cheaper defenders. Ben Chilwell ($7,000) and Angelo Ogbonna ($6,500) should fit those categories a bit better than Duffy does while saving you some money.
