The 9 Most Overvalued Players in Fantasy Football

Derrick Henry, RB, Tennessee Titans

Like Marshawn Lynch, Derrick Henry's path to success is easy to see. Unlike Lynch, it will more than likely take an injury.

Plain and simple, fantasy owners are taking Derrick Henry because of a "what if" scenario. What if DeMarco Murray gets injured? What if Derrick Henry then becomes the lead back in a Tennessee Titans offense that has one of the best offensive lines in football, an up-and-coming quarterback, and strong receiving weapons?

OK. But what if the same thing as last year happens?

Henry saw 10 or more attempts in just three games a season ago, finishing with a 23.11% rushing market share. That was 47th highest in the NFL.

Naturally, since volume drives fantasy football and Henry didn't see a ton of it, he ended the year with just three top-24, RB2 performances in PPR formats and, actually, those were the only three contests where he finished higher than RB40 in a given week.

That, uh -- that's not very good.

Even if he were to receive 35% of the team's workload next season -- while assuming they run the ball 476 times again this year, which is no lock given their involvement with wide receivers this offseason -- you're still looking at fewer than 170 carries for Henry. And more than likely an unpredictable 170 carries at that if Murray stays healthy.

At Henry's RB31 ADP, you're looking at selecting him over surer roles -- players like Frank Gore, Bilal Powell, and Danny Woodhead are going after him. While it's certainly easy to see his upside if things go his way, selecting a glorified handcuff in the sixth round is tough to fully understand.
