Fantasy Football: Redrafting the First Round After 4 Weeks
8. Jordy Nelson, WR, Green Bay Packers
If not for a mysterious Week 2 injury that ended his game after just one target, Jordy Nelson of the Green Bay Packers would be much higher on this list. But putting up a goose egg hurts.
Nelson’s on-field chemistry with Aaron Rodgers is evident -- the two have combined for five touchdowns in just three games. Despite not exceeding 80 yards in a single game to date, the prolific receiver has scored a touchdown in every game he has finished, and thus boasts a Reception NEP per target of 1.12.
His 24 targets and 17 receptions are lagging behind the top tier as a result of missing almost all of Week 2, but if he remains on the field, he seems poised to best his previous high in touchdowns of 15 set in 2011. While he may have lost some of the deep speed and explosiveness that characterized his early-career success, Nelson is still finding ways to get open in the short and intermediate areas of the field.
The Packers boast the fifth-ranked passing attack in Adjusted Passing NEP per play, and nabbing Aaron Rodgers' favorite target late in the first round seems like a strong play.
