Fantasy Football: 5 Bold Predictions for Week 9
Jordan Howard Will Break the Bills
I'll start this off by saying something nice about the Buffalo Bills. Their defense has been pretty good this year. According to numberFire's power rankings the Bills have the third-strongest defense in the league despite creating turnovers at a roughly league-average rate of 12.9% of drives. They're allowing just the fifth-fewest yards per play halfway into the season.
Now that the niceties are out of the way, let's get to it. The Chicago Bears are projected to crush the Bills this week. They're currently 10-point road favorites, the widest spread on this week's slate, and their -460 moneyline is also the most lopsided of the week. The Bills are going to have to start Nathan Peterman in this one due to injuries to Josh Allen and Derek Anderson. Two seasons into his career Peterman has been an absolute turnover machine with an incredible 11.1% interception rate, while on the other side of the ball the Bears have our ninth-strongest defense. That means the Bills will likely have to run the ball, but will be running into a brick wall against our number-one ranked rushing defense.
We should be expecting a few turnovers from the Bills in this game, which means the Bears should have excellent field position throughout -- and a steady lead. That sets Jordan Howard up perfectly for a great game. Howard has out-carried teammate Tarik Cohen 71:27 in Bears wins this season. He's also out-carried him 17:6 in the red zone and 5:0 within the five-yard line.
But just saying he's in for a good game isn't very bold. What I'm proposing is that he will double his touchdown production this year on Sunday. Jordan Howard will score three touchdowns against the Bills.
