Don't Draft These 10 Guys

Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Minnesota Vikings

The situation with Cordarrelle Patterson is a classic case of hype driving up a player's cost. I'm fully aware that he finished the 2013 season strong, but I'm also aware that much of that had nothing to do with his receiving ability: the man had six rushing touchdowns over the final five weeks of the season.

If you think that's sustainable, then feel free to draft him at his current average draft position. The fact is, Patterson was an insanely inefficient receiver last year, ranking 84 of 87 wide receivers with 30 or more receptions in Reception Net Expected Points per target. He was worse than Kris Durham, people.

Say what you want about Norv Turner's use with number one receivers. I'll warn you in saying that Patterson doesn't fit the profile of what Norv is used to using, and the Vikings are sure to be a run-first team with that guy named Adrian Peterson in the backfield. Let someone else take Patterson this year.
