8 Big-Name Players You May Want to Avoid in Week 7

Mark Ingram, RB, New Orleans Saints

He was receiving a decent number of touches in a notably split backfield prior to his hand injury, but more importantly was playing distinctly efficient football, rushing 24 times for 143 yards and three touchdowns. Still, Mark Ingram is not a smart play in Week 7.

Ingram goes toe-to-toe with the vaunted Lions defense, same as his quarterback Drew Brees, this week, and it's no surprise that the Detroit Lions rank second in the NFL against the run, per our metrics. This front seven has been absolutely ruthless in all phases of defense, from pass rushing to run stuffing. Ingram might have fresher legs from taking a few weeks off, but that won't matter an ounce once he's staring down the A gap and Ndamukong Suh is looking back at him.

Add in the fact that teammate Khiry Robinson has been playing quite well in his absence (15th in Rushing NEP on a per attempt basis, minimum 20 carries), and this could be a vintage Saints split workload. I doubt Ingram suffers any ill-effects of his injury, but I will be shocked if he eclipses 40 rushing yards on Sunday.
