Eddie Royal was an under-the-radar player who had the potential for a big year thanks to his recent reunion with Jay Cutler.

On Sunday we got glimpses of why.

While his stat line of 5 receptions for 49 yards on 7 targets doesn't necessarily stand out, what is encouraging is that he was heavily utilized in the short, quick passing game that Adam Gase's offenses have previously been known for.

Beyond this, Royal also saw a number of looks when the team was in scoring position and just missed out on hooking up with Cutler on a couple of targets in the red zone that would have resulted in an even bigger day on the stat sheet.

Thanks to Royal's usage by the Bears' coaching staff showing everyone that he's still an integral part of this passing offense, Royal makes a worthwhile add thanks to the sheer volume of targets that should come his way all season long to go along with his healthy usage in the red zone.
