2. Blaine Gabbert, 2011

In a lot of ways, Blaine Gabbert was almost destined to fail in his rookie season. Drafted 10th overall in the 2011 NFL Draft, Gabbert was forced into immediate action in Jacksonville.

The wide receivers on the 2011 Jaguars' depth chart -- Mike Thomas, Jarrett Dillard, Jason Hill, Chastin West, Kassim Osgood -- would make any quarterback wince. Maurice Jones-Drew, then age 26, amassed 1,980 total yards as the offense’s only real threat.

Gabbert completed as astonishingly-low 50.8 percent of his attempts. He also posted the third-lowest Passing Success Rate (35.54%) -- the percentage of throws that positively influenced his Passing NEP -- among the 290 quarterbacks in his cohort.

After posting his best pro season in terms of both raw statistics and efficiency metrics in 2015, Gabbert is in line to be San Francisco’s starting quarterback to open training camp. Under Chip Kelly’s tutelage, it's tough to know where Gabbert’s career will go from here, but the floor appears to have been set.
